The holidays are a time filled with celebrations, familiar traditions, and time with the people you love. But if you think you might be pregnant, you may find yourself counting the days until you can take a test instead of enjoying the season.

Perhaps your period is late, you have noticed changes in your body, or you are worried about how an unplanned pregnancy could affect your plans.

Willowbrook Women’s Center is here to help you take your next step. We offer no-cost pregnancy tests and ultrasounds to confirm your pregnancy and give you the clarity you need.

Our appointments are confidential, and we will discuss your options and the support available if your test is positive. We are here for you throughout this season of your life. Schedule an appointment today.

1. Take a Pregnancy Test at the Right Time

When you want answers, waiting can feel frustrating. However, testing too early can give you a false-negative result because your body may not yet have produced enough human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) for the test to detect.

Mayo Clinic recommends testing after the first day of your missed period for more reliable results. If your test is negative but your period does not arrive, repeat it after a few days or contact a healthcare provider.

If you need a test during the holiday season but don’t want to test at home, check our center hours in advance. You may have more options than you realize

2. Give Yourself Permission to Set Boundaries

Family gatherings, holiday meals, and questions about your future can feel different when you are carrying a worry you have not shared with anyone.

You do not have to announce a possible pregnancy before you are ready. If you need privacy, take a quiet moment to yourself, talk with someone you trust, or give yourself permission to leave a gathering early.

While you are waiting to test, you can take care of yourself by eating regularly, staying hydrated, and getting enough rest. If pregnancy is possible, avoiding alcohol and smoking is advisable.

You can appreciate parts of the holiday season while still making space for difficult feelings, and we are here to support you.

3. Get the Information You Need Before Making Decisions

A positive pregnancy test is an important first answer, but it cannot tell you the gestational age of your pregnancy, the location, or if the pregnancy is developing as expected.

These details can help you understand your circumstances as you consider your options, which include parenting, adoption, and abortion, and also determine if you need any additional medical care.

An ectopic pregnancy (where the pregnancy implants outside the uterus) and miscarriage are concerns to look out for during early pregnancy, and an ultrasound can help in identifying them.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Holiday Season Alone

If you are worried about an unplanned pregnancy, you deserve a place where you can ask questions without feeling pressured to have everything figured out.

At Willowbrook Women’s Center, you can receive no-cost pregnancy services and confidential support in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

The holidays may not look the way you expected this year, but you do not have to solve every question today. Start with the information you need, take one step at a time, and remember that support is available.
