The first reaction when you read a positive result on a pregnancy test can be, well, a bit salty, especially if it’s unplanned. Through the shock and tears, you might be wondering how this unexpected pregnancy will impact your future.
You have options available, but which one is right for you, and your future? There is no one right, or wrong, answer. There is only the right one for you, and although right now everything may seem scary, that is only temporary.
Once you take a close look at your options, explore them from your unique point of view, and make your decision, you will find peace and a positive outlook again. Will it be hard? Perhaps, but life is hard from time to time, even without an unplanned pregnancy.
Once you know the path you are heading down, it is easier, no matter which way you decide upon. There is a saying that knowledge is power. Take that a step further and you will find that decision-making is powerful. It leads to acceptance of the path you have chosen and all that’s left to be done is deciding you want to do it in a positive way.
No matter which path you choose, you have a full life and future ahead of you. Face it with confidence and boldness.
Your Choices
There are three options when you are pregnant. You can you can choose to end your pregnancy through abortion, you can let the pregnancy continue and become a parent, or you could let the pregnancy continue through delivery and choose adoption.
At Willowbrook Women’s Center, we are here to give you unbiased information so you can make a confident decision on which one is best for you. Our caring, non-judgmental advocates will help you so that you get all the information you need to make the right decision for YOU.
Pre-Abortion Testing
Before you pay for a procedure you may not need, make an appointment at Willowbrook Women’s Center. We will give you a free, lab-quality pregnancy test to confirm the result of your home test.
If the test comes back positive, we will offer you a free ultrasound. This test will show if the pregnancy is viable, if the pregnancy is ectopic (a dangerous condition requiring medical attention), or if it is likely to end in miscarriage, as 15 to 25 percent of pregnancies do. If viable, it will also tell you how far along you are.
The last test we offer is one to detect STD’s. This is important because untreated STD’s present when an abortion is performed can result in pelvic inflammatory disease, something that can cause pain, lifelong problems with reproductive health, and infertility issues.
